It’s nice to see Bob take a vacation for once. Unfortunately, it’s definitely not going to be a relaxing one. Snail Bob 8: Island Story puts Bob in the fray once again, and he’s going to have to fight his snail-y heart out to escape this deceptive tropical paradise.
Bob has been separated from his grandfather after an ice-fishing accident, and he’s somehow found himself on a tropical island filled with a snail-eating tribe. It’s not good news for Bob. Fight your way off the island and back to Bob’s grateful grandfather or face certain doom!
Bob has a few new tricks up his sleeve to combat the hungry locals, Snail Bob 8 brings fresh elements to the table while keeping all of the old favorites. The collectible stars in each level are even more difficult to find than in the past, so don’t expect to get as many achievements on your first run through. Aside from cannibalistic tribesmen, Bob also faces a series of challenges and puzzles that will have your head spinning (but in a good way!).
Snail Bob 8 may seem like it’s milking the cow for all it’s worth, but the game really does keep things fresh and entertaining. The graphics are once again alive with color and an interesting soundtrack (though there’s only one song to the game), and the player feels the same sense of responsibility towards Bob that melts your heart and touches your soul. Bob is incredibly endearing, and the game’s smooth mechanics and quirky animations make us fall even more in love with him. Expect great things in the future from this slow-moving, yet lovable snail.
