Most of us think back to our school days and how much we dreaded math class. It’s no surprise that we try and avoid it as much as possible. After all, who actually enjoys finding the X in Algebra? As surprising as it may seem, some people do enjoy it, and they’ve come up with a clever puzzle-solving game called Geometry Dash.
Geometry Dash is a online game where players must navigate a square through a series of levels. It has over 20 unique levels and new characters to unlock. You and your little square friend must make it through each level in one go, or you’ll be sent back to the beginning!

Gameplay
It’s as easy as clicking your mouse. Well, maybe it’s not that easy. The simple mouse controls don’t do anything to make the game less challenging. The square you navigate through levels is unpredictable and can change form at any second. One minute it’s a harmless square, the next it has changed into a rocket flying at breakneck speed.
The game’s 20 levels each have three secret coins that the player can find to unlock achievements, which then unlock customization options that allow you to change the look of your character. There’s even a level editor in the full version for those wishing to play beyond the game’s set levels. Created levels have the potential to be shared to encourage other gamers to continue Geometry Dash past level 20.
Aside from a progress bar at the top of the screen, there’s a fail counter that shows how many times you’ve had to restart the level. This was intentional on the part of the game’s creators, who appear to have quite the sense of humor. Each level will also be decorated in such a way that players may get distracted, causing them to crash and start the level over.
Players wishing to get the hang of the controls and gameplay before starting levels can use Practice Mode. Instead of having to make it all the way through to complete it, Practice Mode has a series of checkpoints set up to save players’ progress. If your square character dies, you’ll be brought back to your last checkpoint.
Review
Geometry Dash is entirely frustrating, but players just can’t seem to get enough of it. The challenge it provides has kept many a player hunched over their computer, clicking furiously for hours attempting to get to the next level. It’s easy to get lost in the game, especially with the excellent soundtrack playing in the background. Bouncing and rocketing your little square to victory after beating all the obstacles will have you jumping for joy, at least until the next level. All in all, it’s a great way to spend a boring afternoon. Unfortunately, it doesn’t actually help you with your geometry skills. You’ll still have to do your homework.
